Ethereum Foundation Introduces a New Programming Language, Fe
Fe is a new smart contract programming language introduced by the Ethereum Foundation to give developers options and a more “Pythonic alternative to Solidity” according to Christoph Burgdorf. Fe is a rewrite of the computer program language called Vypher that powers the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Notably, it bears some few similarities with Rust.
Details:
Diversity is a metric that measures the depth of open source projects. Ethereum being one--and as the most popular, is at times limited by the requirement that its smart contracts must be compiled in Solidity. Ahead of another upgrade, the Ethereum Foundation nows says the team will “ramp up its development” and Fe could support Optimistic Ethereum for programs building on Layer-2 and Ethereum WebAssembly (eWASM)--the revamped version of the EVM set to power Eth2.
Impact on the ETH Price:
Neutral but bullish in the long haul. Developers should be free to launch programs they are thoroughly conversant with considering the immutability of Ethereum transactions. Fe will complement Solidity even though most aspects of the language are borrowed from the legacy programming language.
